My client is an engineering consultancy providing civil design and project leadership.  It’s no secret that there is a lot going on in this area so my client is now looking for a new Civil Engineer to join the team.

The core of the role is design but it’s broader than most covering all land and property development and, it  offers a professional path to technical leadership, chartership.

The integration of facilities, desire for more natural habitats, bringing more “community” into the mix, managing impact on the landscape etc. are all now part of the job.

The Role:

Civil Designer / Design Engineer with a focus on land development and water services.

This position will work alongside other engineers and play a key role in the design of:

  • Stormwater services
  • Supply water services
  • Site layout / earthworks
  • some wastewater design

Like all good roles, there will be variety, site involvement and engagement across other disciplines ensuring you broaden your own engineering foundations. It is estimated supply /stormwater design will initially be about 60% or so of your time with the remainder on civil solutions for property development projects in and around Canterbury.

Requirements:

Firstly, you will need to have good real-world civil engineering design skills for civil works and water services.  We will be open to Civil Designers and/or Engineers able to compile data and create system design for water systems as well as plany a role in the design of roading, grading kerb & channel etc.

Secondly, you will be a comfortable communicator, with a proven ability to liaise with a diverse range of clients, consultants and compliance people.

More specifically we will also need:

  • A NZ recognised degree in Civil Engineering (BEngTech or BE Civil)
  • Advanced water modelling skills (possibly using EPANET, SWMM or equivalent packages (Openflows WaterCAD, HEC-RAS, MIKE, Infowater etc.))A portfolio of post-study (ideally constructed) civil design projects relevant to New Zealand land development.
  • A proveable understanding of engineering standards for land development, district plans and NZS4404
  • Good CAD skills (Revit / AutoCAD)
  • Civil3D skills would be a bonus.
