There are many challenges, given the remote locations, international borders and cross-cultural dealing, but that is exactly what this role is all about.
We are looking for an experienced construction and/or engineering project manager to take ownership of various project in the APAC regions. The work starts early - at the tender stage, where you will provide programme and resources input, monitoring of design progress, right through to final construction on site in Fiji, Kirimati, Tuvalu or wherever the customer is.
This position wlil have up to five indirect reports and work closely with procurement, logistics, design and operations specialist so you are definitely not alone. You will also not be stuck behind a desk all day as travel to site and client's locations will be a regular component of the job.
- Reviewing proposals and forecasting resources
- Creating and monitoring Project Programmes and budgets
- Managing the progress of projects through design, procurement and delivery stages.
- Handling all compliance, programme and budget challenges.
- At least 3 years' experience in delivering medium sized engineering / construction projects.
- Hands-on experience in managing remote projects.
- Good computer skills (MS Office Suite and MS Project)
- Exception communications and interpersonal skills across cultures
Specific experience in solar electrical power or Pacific Island projects is not a specific requirement, but you will need to have good New Zealand/Australian project experience and cross-border exposure.
Although based in Wellington, there will be occasional travel to sites required. This is not likely to be considered excessive but you may occasionally be required to be away from home to visit multiple locations up to two weeks at a time You will need to have a valid passport, have a full clean drivers licence and have the health and fitness to handle a variety of location, environments and site conditions.
