Projects are typically commercial scale grid-connected solar systems. This role is responsible for the production of design from the solar system inverter output to the power network interface. Design will be carried out by you and others and you will be responsible for designing and monitoring the design work of others.


  • Producing schematic power system design for proposals.
  • Producing detailed primary/secondary power system design.
  • Specification of switchgear, conductors and associated equipment.
  • Modelling/simulation of power system operation.
  • Outline and occasionally specification of protection systems.
  • Reviewing of installation and commissioning activities.

Although primarily based in the Wellington office, there will be occasional travel required to sites, most of which are located in the Pacific Island, New Zealand and Australia.

This is an exceptionally diverse role covering the broad spectrum of renewable energy design in the real world but essentially, it is about identifying and focusing on the solution that meets the customer’s needs.



We are looking for an Engineer with real world design in power engineering. This design experience might have been gained in a power distribution organisation of consultancy and will provide a solis base of knowledge as the foundation for this role.

This position has another side and as a Design Engineer you will be engaged in increasing the capacity of the company to produce designs.  This involves interfacing with expertise both within and outside the company - specifying requirements, answering queries and reviewing results.

  • Bachelor degree or or Masters Engineering (Electrical) 
  • The knowledge and skills that come with 3 plus years of power design experience
  • Excellent professional level of written and spoken communications.
  • Forward thinking proactive approach to the power industry in New Zealand.
  • Familar with a the technology (CAD/MATLAB./3D workplace.
  • Proven people and/or technical leadership potential.
