We need a person with the hands-on capability of a Project Manager to keep individual projects and/or business initiatives on track but with also the technical mechanical design depth to understand the solutions being proposed to clients and to keep the design team honest. Additionally we need this person to have the capability to win the ear of all levels of staff to ensure project initiatives are supported.
Working within a small Project Management team, you will assist with finalizing the specifications from the sales team, ensuring correct details are taken and that the proposed solution is realistic. You will work with the design and production teams to ensure that the product is designed and manufactured correctly. Finally you will be involved in ensuring the installation and commissioning of the product is successful, ehich at times my require overseas travel.
Ideally our preference is for a proven Project Manager with a strong mechanical design and manufacturing background with exposure to relevant industry methodologies.
However, we will consider a Mechanical Design Engineer who can demonstrate the skills and personal attributes needed to move into a Project Management role. For such a person, we would bring you into the Design team first for 12 months to learn the products intimately while assissting with design, to learn the pricing system and to learn from the exisiting Project Managers.
Skills and Experience
The person we are looking for will originally have had a strong technical background ideally in an engineering manufacturing and R&D environment. Qualification and/or experience in mechanical engineering, design, or control systems would greatly assist you in undertaking this role.
Experience with the design and manufacture of capital equipment is desirable. . You will be methodical, be good with detail, have strong administration skills and importantly have the ability to make the right decisions at the right time. You will be business savvy and confident enough to front customers and drive your colleagues on timelines and quality when required.
