This dynamic organisation is responsible for maintaining and delivering the improvements to the electrical power network infrastructure in South Canterbury. With a new Asset Management Plan on the drawing board, they are working with teams, re-vamping the processes and adding a bit of technology to make tomorrow better for everyone. Bringing better collection and use of data, smarter asset monitoring, reliability analysis and information management into the mix, the direction has been set, now it’s time for action.

On a day-to-day basis the core of this role is to manage the network technical services operations. This team is dedicated to undertaking all works relating to the electrical distribution network from overhead/underground lines to switchgear substations and transformers etc.
Once settled, the responsibility of this role will be to develop the Asset Management Plan using skills, research and experience into a forward-looking, effective and do-able target. With this in place, the Technical Services Manager will champion the implementation with all involved people, parties and processes, keeping all informed, focused and on track.
There will be changes, challenges and set-backs along the way, and this is where your insight and foresight will reap dividends as you keep your eye on the horizon and lead the way.
To make this happen, this team need a strong leader with a very good understanding of the people, plant and processes involved in providing a top class HV power network - a person able to draw on real world experience and a passion for a better way who revels in the opportunity to make the changes happen.

- Inside knowledge of HV Distribution Network plant and equipment.
- Experience in managing a Technical Services department.

Within the team, the challenge is to manage and develop Planners, Supervisors, Power Technicians, Linesmen, Fitters and Charge Hands at all levels to their full potential, further afield you will be liaising with network stakeholders, compliance bodies and customers to make the changes. It is a balance of strategy, planning, management mentoring and practical sense you will find stimulating and very rewarding.
